What renewable energy potential lies across Croatia, Hungary and the EU – and how can smarter buildings contribute to the transition? RenewMap will bring these questions and fresh project insights to Osijek on 23 September 2026.
On 23 September 2026, RenewMap will take centre stage during the opening afternoon of the 17th International Natural Gas, Heat and Water Conference in Osijek, Croatia, with a dedicated programme combining a round-table discussion and four professional presentations.
The conference has a long-standing tradition in the region. Established in 2003 through cooperation between HEP-Plin Ltd. and the Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Slavonski Brod, it has developed over the years into an international meeting point for researchers, university experts and professionals working in the fields of energy, gas, heat and water. Its scope was expanded to heat and water in 2009, and the conference became international in 2010 through cooperation with the University of Pécs. Previous editions have attracted more than 300 participants from several European countries.
This year, the RenewMap programme will form the opening afternoon of the conference, creating an opportunity to introduce the project, share emerging results and discuss different dimensions of the energy transition with a wider international professional and scientific audience.
Starting at 16:00, the programme will open with the round-table discussion “Renewable Energy Mapping for Rural Development”, followed by four presentations offering insights into:
- the main highlights and current results of the RenewMap project;
- women’s preferences in renewable energy and energy-efficiency investments, based on the RenewMap survey;
- renewable energy potentials in Croatia, Hungary and the European Union;
- building certification and Smart Readiness Indicators.
Together, these contributions will connect RenewMap’s work on renewable-energy mapping and rural development with broader questions of investment behaviour, energy efficiency, territorial renewable-energy potential and the transition towards smarter and more sustainable energy systems.
The conference provides an important platform for professional exchange and knowledge transfer, bringing together academic research and practical experience from the energy sector. Its stated aim is to foster the exchange of experience and provide new knowledge to professionals and researchers working with gas, heat, water and related energy topics.
